Last year we welcomed Dolcë and Adelaide, Border Collie puppies, into our home. I have wanted a chocolate Collie since seeing "Toby the Wonderdog", on TV in the 90's!
We found a breeder in Woodend, through one of our customers, and went to meet little Dolcë when she was only 5 weeks old; I knew immediately that she was going to be my special girl and I put down a deposit. The breeder kept us updated with how she was going until we picked her up a few weeks later.
I set up a dog crate in our bedroom and Dolcë settled in well, getting used to coming to the shop with me and enjoying farm life. A week later, my Jersey cow gave birth to a beautiful calf, so Dolcë and Gloria got to know each other from the start.
Four weeks after picking up Dolcë, the breeder contacted us to see if we may know anyone after a puppy, as one of the homes had fallen through; so we added Adelaide to our menagere too.
The sisters are as different as can be!
Dolcë is all business, a real outdoors, farm dog. She is always on the go and wanting to work, she's up for any challenge and great around livestock of all sizes. She is courageous and cautious at the same time, not putting herself in harm's way
Addie is a little silly, but affectionate and super people focused, and a couch potato. She has a vitamin B12 deficiency that causes her to overheat, so she has to stay quiet in warm weather and have her vitamins every day. She also loves to lay in the water trough. She is not cautious enough around the livestock, so has to be watched with them.
The puppies have bought so much joy to our family; we love them!
They will be one on May 13th.
